1941 Maritime Game Reports      


(July 26)  Alex Nickerson of the Halifax Chronicle Herald announced the All-Star team from the Halifax City League.  The selections were Tim Neary, Navy (catcher); Harold LaPierre, Cardinals (First base); Fred Frewer, Navy (Second base); Canny, Army (Shortstop); Billy Hannon, Navy (Third base); Hoppi MacDonald, Cardinals, (Left Field); Aukie Titus, Navy (Center Field), Tim Flinn, Cardinals, (Right Field); G. Beazley, Army (pitcher and utility).

(August 5) Halifax Navy took a two game lead in the final round of the Halifax Senior League knocking off the Cardinals 11-4. Aukie Titus and Billy Hannon both went 3 for 4 for the Sailors. Vince Ferguson, considered the best player in the province in the thirties, went 4 for 4 in a losing cause. Tim Neary was the winning pitcher.

(August 12)  Navy was crowned regular season champion of the Halifax Senior Baseball League with an 11-7 victory over the Cardinals. 

(September 4) Navy cooled off the rampaging Liverpool Larrupers in the third game of the provincial semi-finals, winning 5-4.  Liverpool subsequently won the provincial championship and knocked off Devon, New Brunswick in a 3 out of 5 series to win the Maritime crown.
