Bobby Lewis (right) of the Swift Current Indians shows two teammates a major reason why he won the Southern League's home run title this season. Lewis, who hit eight homers, keeps company with Doug Modrell (left) the league's top pitcher and Ron McKechney, the batting champion.

Below (left) - Melville Millionaires centre-fielder Bev Hickie who finished among the leaders in the Southern League in batting by compiling a .294 average.  A year later, he would win the batting crown and top nearly every batting category.

Below (right) - pitcher Gary Modrell, from California, began the season as the playing-manager of the Melville Millionaires but was released after the team opened the season with six straight losses.  His brother Doug pitched for Swift Current.
