Above left - Catcher Laurel Hardy, a veteran of play in the Edmonton area, was recruited to join the Saskatoon Lions for the 1939 season. The Lions went on to capture the Saskatchewan championship defeating Weyburn in the provincial final. Harney went on to play in Victoria before returning to Edmonton to finish a twenty year career in baseball. His work in BC included a stint as manger of Victoria's professional team, the Athletics of the Western International League, an affiliate of the New York Yankees.
