Brooklyn vs the World series. In the Maritime game reports for 1948 and 1949 there is mention of the visit of the Brooklyn Junior Dodgers to Halifax as part of this baseball series. Hank Tominaga and Roger Breard (above) were part of the World team at the Hearst Classic in 1946. This series was part of a rivalry between two New York newspapers, Randolph Hearst's New York World and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
Breard was from Quebec and well known in the Provincial League over the years. Tominaga (from Hawaii) played in Blacks Harbour in 1951 and with the Kentville Wildcats in 1953.
