1951 Dauphin Redbirds (at the National Baseball Congress Tournament)

1951 Dauphin

Back Row (L to R) - Bob Enalls, John Stempak, Frank Joyner, Ray Nash, Ernie Boushy, Wayne "Wimpy" Stephenson,  Front Row (L to R) - Keith Myles, Frank Watkins, Eddie McDonald, Lou Bourbonnais.

This club represented Dauphin at the Saskatchewan, National Baseball Congress Tournament.  Playing short-handed, as some of their regulars were not available to make the trip for the mid-week event, the Red Birds surprised the Northern Saskatchewan League's Saskatoon 55's in their opening game but were no match for the powerful Indian Head Rockets of the Western Canada League who buried them in a two-game, total-runs showdown.  Two of the players, John Stempak and Eddie McDonald, were pickups from Gilbert Plains of the Manitoba-Saskatchewan League.
