Baseball on the prairies

A classic photo of baseball on the prairies.  In 1956, members of the Granum White Sox warm up in the shadow of the town's grain elevators.  #11 is pitcher Willie Walasko moving towards a group which includes: Don Johnson (kneeling), Gord Wesley (#19), Earl Ingarfield (showing his pitching form), and Darwin Walkingshaw. MacEwen, Walasko, Gorbous

At the end of the 1956 season, Bentley MacEwen (left) and Willie Walasko (right) of Granum joined Glen Gorbous (second from right) for some exhibition games with George Brookman's Calgary Dodgers.  That's Maxine Brookman welcoming the new recruits. (Photo courtesy Bill Walasko)
