(July 15)   Gordie Nevers, the Southern Minny's strikeout king, threw a no-hitter at Albert Lea Wednesday night winning 1-0 at American Legion Memorial Stadium. Nevers' brilliant performance over-shadowed a solid effort by Phil Johnson (0-5), trying for his first win as a Colonel. Johnson allowed just three hits.  The only run came in the third inning. Norm Mundahl walked, was sacrificed to second by Nevers and came home on Mike Milligan's single.  Nevers struck out 14 and walked four.
