SOUTHERN LEAGUE
According to the league's final statistics, Ron McKechney of the Swift Current Indians has won the Southern League batting crown for 1965 with a fantastic .403 average. The towering second baseman did it in a most deliberate and steady manner, racing to the fore as the season opened and maintaining a stable pace as the games slipped by. A breakdown of his 31 hits, a league high, shows 19 singles, eight doubles, one triple and four home runs. Bobby Lewis of Swift Current Indians won the home run crown belting 8.
Doug Modrell of Swift Current was the loop's leading pitcher with seven wins and just two defeats, one more victory than Wayne LeBere of Moose Jaw.

NORTHERN SASKATCHEWAN LEAGUE
Bob Babki of the Saskatoon Commodores is the batting champion of the 1965 Northern Saskatchewan League. Babki's .402 average was well ahead of Roy Rowley of North Battleford Beavers. Woody Felix of Unity Cardinals finished third, at .373. Joe Ferguson of Kindersley actually had a mark of .404 to top Babki, but failed to meet the requirement of 80 plate appearances to be eligible for the batting crown. Ferguson also finished among the top hurlers with a 5-1 record and 3.18 ERA.
Roger Freed of Neilburg Monarchs led the loop in home runs, with 8 in just 15 games. Ira McKnight of Saskatoon led the circuit in runs batted in, 30, runs, 38, and stolen bases, 24.
Southpaw Ross Stone of Unity had the most wins, 10, and led in strikeouts with 128. Harold Hunchak and Sherman Cottingham of North Battleford. each had 9 wins. Hunchak's 2.21 earned run average was tops.

Oscar Walker, one of three imports on the St. Lazare roster, easily captured the batting title in the Manitoba Senior League with a .452 mark, 50 points ahead of Mel Smith of Hamiota. Maurice Oakes of Dauphin was third, at .370. Bob Wilson of Brandon led in home runs, with 7. Walker was tops in runs with 35.
Jack Denbow of Hamiota had the most wins, 8 while Bryan Smith and Hamiota had the best won-lost mark, 7-0, just ahead of Dave Pearson of St. Lazare, at 6-0. Dick Limke was tops in strikeouts, with 84.

Brian Pearen of the London Pontiacs was the leading hitter in the 1965 Intercounty Baseball League. Pearen took the crowd with a .405 average. Roger Dewaele of Galt was tops in home runs, 7, and runs batted in, 23. Pearen tied Nick DiCarlo for the lead in stolen bases, each with 12.
Rolf Scheel of London had a 9-0 mark to post the best pitching mark. Ron Stead of Brantford had the most wins, 11, and strikeouts, 156.

BASIN LEAGUE
Ted Bashore of Rapid City Chiefs led the Basin League in four categories in 1965, setting a league record with 20 doubles while taking the batting title with a .361 average and topping the circuit with 49 runs batted in. The UCLA outfielder-first baseman also tied for the lead in hits with Jim Armstrong of Valentine, each with 66. Carl Schreiner of Valentine was the top slugger with 12 home runs. Rusty Adkins of Pierre was tops with 5 triples and Lou Camilli of Rapid City led in thefts with 11.
It was a tough league for hitters with no less than 13 pitchers under the 3.00 mark in earned run average. Don Cook of Sturgis was best with an ERA of 1.29, however the Long Island right-hander could win just three of nine decisions. Winner's John Hilts was the runner-up as the Wyoming right-hander registered a mark of 1.85. Hilts and Bob Reed of Sturgis each won eight games. Reed, the Michigan product, was the strikeout king with 136 whiffs and pitched the most innings, 144 1/3. Pierre's John Smart, from Arizona, had the best won-lost percentage .859 from his 6-1 record. He was one of few left-handers in the league. Rapid City's Fred Devereux showed remarkable control with just nine walks in 72 innints. The Michigan State right-hander for the pennant-winning Chiefs, appeared in 20 games, the most by any hurler.

Tom Moore of Greaves Motors has captured the batting title in the Victoria Senior Amateur Baseball League topping Gary/Steve Bishop of the Independents .386 to .377. Ron Griffis of the Independents was tied for third with Jerry Montgomery of Chemainus, each at .354. Art Worth and John Yankoski of the Transport Workers tied at .346.
Les Brice and George Hemming, both of Greaves, led the loop in pitching wins, each with seven. The pair from the Transport Workers, Art Worth and John Yankoski had the best percentage, each with 5 wins and no losses.

WHEATBELT BASEBALL LEAGUE
Buck Lund of the Fairview Outlaws was a runaway winntr of the batting race in Alberta's Wheatbelt League in 1965. His .413 average was 51 points ahead of the runner-up, Ray Stokke of the Grande Prairie Eskimos. Lund's teammate, Dave Lovesin, was third, hitting .339 and Dale Stokke claimed the fourth spot with a .322 average. Jerry Walker of Beaverlodge Royals had the most hits, 22, while three players - Dale Stokke, Don Richards of Grande Prairie and Bill Clark of Beaverlodge tied for the most runs scored, 15. Dale Stokke knocked in the most runs, 16 and was tops in home runs with 6.
Lefty Joe Weremy was the top hurler with a 5-0 mark. Bill Robinson had the most wins, 6.
