Seidler scores

In the 1970 Seine River League playoffs Roy Seidler of Giroux is safe at home beating the toss from catcher Aaron Ross to Woodridge pitcher Don Belisle. Woodridge, however, went on to capture the league championship.

Roy Seidler, just 20 in the photo above, went on to play and coach over four decades in Manitoba amateur ball, a player with the Giroux Athletics for more than 30 years.

His page at the HOF notes 14 years playing Twilight Ball, winning three Western Canadian titles, three years with Team Alberta in the Senior World Series in Phoenix, Arizona, the Redboine League Pitcher Of The Year in 1980. Twice in one season he stole second, third and home in the same at bat.

Seidler was the coach of the Redboine All-Stars in 1981 at the Nationals in Winnipeg. He played for eight years, winning five championships with the Carillon Sultans. He was the founding president of the Carillon Minor Baseball League.

Seidler was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.


 

CUAC scores

 

June 8th Manitoba Senior League East Division action between the CUAC Blues and the Steinbach Millers. One of CUAC's seven runs scores as the throw from first base is wild to the plate. Steinbach catcher Ralph Rempel eyes the ball. Millers won the game 10-7.
