ALBERTA MAJOR BASEBALL LEAGUE
Controversy surrounded the naming of Gord Graves as the Alberta Major Baseball League's 1975 batting champion. Graves, who left the Red Deer M and K Generals with five games remaining, won the title with a .369 average but according to Generals' team officials Pete Duncan should have received the award. A newspaper report said team statistics showed Duncan with a .382 average, but was overlooked in the league statistics.
Generals' Al McKee and John Self of the Calgary Jimmies were tied for second with .354 marks while Rich Givens, also of Calgary, was at .341 and Lorne Niven of Edmonton Tigers at .337. Grant Becker of Red Deer was tops in runs, with 26. Gary Ledbetter's seven homer runs topped the circuit and Mike Lester led in steals with 11. Bob Bridges of Red Deer was the top pitcher with a 5-1 record and a sparkling earned run average of 1.61. Wayne Kirby of the Tigers had a 1.85 ERA and had the most wins with a 7-3 record and in strikeouts with 75. Edmonton's Ray Brown had the most appearances, 14, and innings pitched, 74.

SASKATCHEWAN MAJOR BASEBALL LEAGUE
Hal Harris of Unity Cardinals ran away with the batting title in the inaugural year of the Saskatchewan Baseball League. In statistics printed in the Unity and Eston papers, Harris compiled a .431 average to top his nearest challenger teammate Hugh McIvor at .396. Bob Brown of the Saskatoon Boston Royals was third with a .381 mark. (The numbers didn't always match the text in the stories. For example, the text in the Unity paper credited Harris with 6 homers, while the stats sheet showed 5.)
The limited pitching statistics available had Glen Burdon of Regina as the ERA champion with a 1.27 mark but in just 21 innings. John Littlefield of Eston was the top winner, with six. Gorman Heimueller of Eston had an outstanding summer with a 2.25 ERA in 76 innings and a league-leading 73 strike outs.
