VICTORIA
Softball was the lone diamond sport that had any presence in Victoria in 1936. Amateur baseball lagged far behind cricket, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, tennis, golf and the other outdoor sports. No senior or feeder baseball leagues, other than a late-starting Juvenile division, were reported as being operational within the Capital City in 1936 as interest, in terms of participation, seemed to have waned to its lowest level. A group of baseball old-timers arranged an exhibition game with all-star players of recent vintage in late June but that was about it as the senior-level Commercial League of a year previous never got off the ground.
